Jay is a professional music educator, conductor, composer, arranger, performer and clinician with over 20 years experience in arranging band music. His arrangements have been published, recorded and televised. Many of his works have been performed at national band competitions. Jay approaches the art of arranging with a musical sensibility that appeals to band directors, students, judges and audiences alike.      Jay Rees is currently Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Arizona. Jay also composes original music for both concert and jazz bands.

His clients: an impressive list of universities and high schools throughout the country commission and perform his work. His goal: to write music that excites the teacher as an educator, the student as a player, and the spectator who seeks entertainment value. His arrangements: voicings that are powerful outside, with all instruments in practical ranges and the unique attribute of sounding more difficult than they are.
